Judging Imagination: Ch. 4
Chapter 4: Going places. Or, actually not going far at all but learning where I had ended up that first time.
All of that information my grannie-ma once used to impart to me in drips and drabs and various colorful story-time variations was swirling through my mind as I stood there so long ago; barely able to consider the world and its ramifications at the age of 8; and stared down at this strange girl's hand stretched out towards mine. Just the barest of movements would put our two bodies in contact; fingers grasped and lives shared. I felt so strongly at that moment that if I chose to move my hand towards hers nothing would ever be the same again. And I was right.
I smiled at her a bit timidly but with growing excitement and grabbed her hand in return. Immediately I felt like my insides had been grabbed by a giant hook. My body felt as though it were being split in two from the center; as though someone were trying to p

Chapter 3: In which I go back a bit and explain
I must admit that at the time I was very much confused by this point!
Come to think of it; I don't think I'm likely to be the only one confused at this point. I'm very sure that now anyone who has dared to read along for this far has found themselves wondering just what is going on? There's this courthouse and a bit of mumbo jumbo about other worlds and then firey lion-taled girls with songs to sing in random hillside caves and where just where is that Nona Bernice person? And what was that again about dragons lighting fires and being useful? I know. It is a bit much, isn't it? Let's see if I can start this again and make it all clearer. TO both of us perhaps.
I grew up in a large town oustide of the main city of Kausenport. It wasn't a busy port or some sort of grand trading villatge. It wasn't a shopping city that everyone would come to vi

Chapter 2: In which I meet Nonie.
I first caught a glimpse of Nona Bernice when I was taking in the lenght of the grande room. Out of the corner of my eye as I spun around in place I saw something which did not mesh with the gleaming colors and glittering glass that most of the room seemed to be made of. I slowly turned back and found myself staring at a very young girl. Probably my own age. She was not very tall, probably average, and rather large. She had a sullen but intelligent look in her dark brown eyes. Her skin gleamed with a creamy sheen, marred only by the occasional dimple or pock mark. She was wearing very dark colors. In contrast to my own spunky violet t-shirt and blue jeans, this young girl was wearing mostly black and dark purple. Huge black boots covered her feet. She had dark pants whose details I was not able to make out and a dark button up shirt that hung h

Chapter 1: The secret. Or, finding out about me.
Everyone has a secret. I am hers. The only trouble is, she isn't with me at this crucial moment. As I stood before the Court, I had a horrible feeling that I was going to be sick all over my new shoes. Imagine: an imaginary friend. On trial. For murder. Of an evil and quite mad scientist. Who, it turns out, isn't the evil one here. It gets better. Or, perhaps worse. Depending on your point of view. Which, as we know, is the basis for much of how the world is remembered in history: the point of view of those in charge. I was about to find myself facing an injust justice system over the very sort of evil actions that are always remembered as being fully rotten: murder. But, I didn't kill my imaginer. Nona Bernice. She is still very much alive. Living in MY world. I g
